Why are we doing this? Notd exists to help writers and readers connect — and to give independent creators a real way to make money from their writing online. We want to incentivize our writers to spread the word, whether they’re hoping to monetize their Stream or just share their content with the world.
Even if you don’t snag the top prize, high-performing Streams may still get some love — think homepage feature or a special spotlight.
We’ve created a separate "Contest" Stream (you're reading it now) to provide details, announce monthly winners, share best practices, and more.
There’s just one rule, really: Only unique, verified subscribers count. We strictly enforce against self-subscribing and duplicate accounts. (All Stream creators — whether or not they participate in the contest — must follow the usual Terms of Service.)
Marketing Your Stream
There's two factors to gaining new subscribers: promotion and pricing.
First, promotion: It’s simple. Draft compelling Notes, and give them customized URLs (it's right there in the editor). Once you publish, click the “Share” button on your Stream or Note to post directly to Facebook, X, or Reddit.
Want to also promote via email, chat, or text? Just copy and paste the Note's URL to send it to friends, family, coworkers, or anyone you know.
Second, pricing: To attract more subscribers, consider setting your Stream subscription price at one cent per month. Of course, you can charge more if your audience is willing to pay it — that’s when you can start earning money directly. (See How to Make Money Publishing on Notd: The Basics). But starting small is the smartest way to grow fast. New subscribers get three dollars in free credit when they sign up, and some of them will want to subscribe to multiple streams to check them out!
