Put Me Back in It

free note

God watched as I reviewed the mess we made.

He observed how my eyes welled,

as I scanned the scene

of the vision of our creation.

It was violent,

and lethal.

A mountain of disarray and chaos.

The smell of smoke,

the sound of thunder.

A sight of destruction.

I could still feel the vibration of the faint ticking

of a weak heartbeat underneath the rubble.

In the corner of my eye,

I see your silhouette sprawled under a burning tree.

You are sleeping.

He looked down at me and asked,

“What do you want me to do?”

I looked up as if I could see the Unseen,

fell to my knees and said,

“Put me back in it”.
