A Damned Soul
The clouds were getting thicker, making fog arise, and the sky was getting darker as time flew by. The day was not progressing as Nina had anticipated, but she tried to keep her head clear as she continued to work the remaining hours of her shift. "Thank you all so much, have a wonderful day!" she called out to the last of the guests who were leaving as she and some other ladies she worked with closed down the front of the store. "You working Tuesday, Nina?" Pam, a middle-aged server, asked. "You know I have a date that night," she chuckled, making Pam break her act. "Sorry, hun, forgot you had a social life. You're like what 23 young and still in your prime if I was still your age, girl, I'd be taking and breaking hearts, these days you can't do much but just look and admire." The other two ladies helping laughed along with them. Slowly, one by one, everyone left, and it was just Nina. She made sure everything was set for tomorrow's shift. Since she was off, she didn't want to make anyone have to do more than they already needed to. She went home, counted her tips, then took a shower and went straight to bed.
The next morning, she awoke ready for the day ahead of her. She had finally come out of her shell with her friend Stacey when they had both gone clubbing on the weekend, and someone ended up asking her out. She hesitated at first, but with a little push from Stacey, she gladly accepted, and now today was the day. It wasn't much she had to do; she had already showered last night, so she decided to fix herself a good breakfast, prepare her outfit, and then just sit and binge-watch some movies until 5 pm. Before she knew it, she ended up dozing off and woke up to the time at 3:27. She turned the television off in her room and got up, stretching. Her outfit consisted of a navy blue halter top and some high-waisted flare blue jeans. Her shoes were just some white sneakers, and her hair was in its natural curly form. Jewelry wasn't too flashy: a simple moon necklace, some diamond earrings, two brown and beige beaded bracelets, and two rings. Oh, and her makeup was nothing. She loved going barefaced, especially in this type of weather; she would sweat it off immediately, but she had to make sure to bring her lip balm and her lip oil. Chap lips were a no-go tonight.
By the time she was ready, it was 4:48, and she was starting to get jitters, so she decided to pace around her room with her belongings in her hands. The doorbell rang soon after, and she took a deep breath before walking over and opening it. There stood the guy she had met and asked her out. He was handsome, the pure definition of the main male character that you would see or picture in a book. He was 28, just two years older than her, and he stood at 6 ft 1 in, towering over her small 5 ft 4 in. "Hi, how are you?" he asked, grinning widely with a bouquet of roses in his hands. She couldn't help but smile back, opening her arms for a hug, and slowly they both embraced each other. "I'm good, thank you so much, you didn't have to, they're beautiful," she said as he handed her the flowers. "They indeed are, however, not as beautiful as you," he complimented, making Nina look down with a large grin.
After Nina locked her doors to her house, they made their way towards his car him helping her inside and then getting comfortable and driving to their destination. The ride seemed smooth, and the music that was playing was starting to calm the nerves Nina had. Suddenly, the entire atmosphere changed, and the beautiful buildings they saw at the beginning became dark and lonely roads; they couldn't see any cars or any light, just dark and eerie woods and a long pitch black road. Nina couldn't help but dread the feeling creeping up on her. 'What was happening?' She thought, 'Why was this happening?' "Where are we going? I thought it was a famous restaurant. Are they usually out this long and this way?" She asked with a shaky voice and a body trembling with fear. No answer. "Where are we going?" She tried asking once more, attempting to have some more steadiness, but again no answer. She reached her hand out and touched his shoulder, but that resulted in a scream from her because he turned, and what she saw shocked her to her core. Half of his face was covered in bloody, dead, and rotting flesh with maggots swimming where his eyes should have been.
She tried her best to get out of the car but failed, and she started to sob hysterically, wanting to find a way out of this situation. He started to talk, but instead of the nice, deep voice she heard when he picked her up, it was a sickly, dark, demonic voice. "You knew I would come for you," he said before opening his mouth at an impossible angle and chomping off Nina's head. The next thing that came up was a red portal filled with fire, and suddenly Nina was back, wiping tables and closing the diner down.
